COVID-19 Pandemic: Donations to communities affected. April 2020 – Nairobi, Kenya

BAPS Charities Nairobi has sprung into action to support families and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Food shortages and general economic uncertainty will greatly affect residents in slums and other areas.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Women volunteers, who prepared food packs that a family of 4 can utilize for up to 4 days. These comprise of Maize meal, Rice, Beans, Sugar, Salt, Biscuits and Water.

As a first phase of these donations, on 11th April 2020, BAPS Charities donated 450 packs for 2 slums in Nairobi. The donations were channeled through the respective Chiefs in charge of the areas.

BAPS Charities intends to provide further support with donations of many more such packs in the coming months. These will be distributed through the relevant authorities.
