BAPS Charities Delivers Warmth and Dignity with Winter Care Drive in New Zealand

This winter, BAPS Charities New Zealand carried out a nationwide Community Winter Care Drive, rooted in the spirit of selfless service. The initiative aimed to support vulnerable individuals and families across Aotearoa who faced the challenges of the cold season.

Through the dedicated efforts of volunteers and strong collaboration with local organisations, BAPS Charities distributed more than 400 Winter Care Packs, served over 400 hot vegetarian meals, and donated 448 baby clothing sets, ensuring that children and families could be wrapped in warmth and comfort.

This compassionate outreach was made possible in partnership with Kai Avondale, the Department of Corrections, Glenavon School, Give a Kid a Blanket (Auckland), Serve Trust Hamilton, Pataka Kai – Koiri Marae (Wellington), and the Christchurch City Mission. Each organisation played a vital role in identifying and reaching members of their communities who were most in need.

The Winter Care Packs included essentials such as beanies, gloves, socks, blankets, and personal notes from volunteers—each filled with dignity and empathy. Freshly prepared meals were shared with individuals experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, or temporary housing struggles.

A highlight of the drive was a special event in Auckland, attended by respected community leaders: National MP for New Lynn Paulo Garcia, Whau Local Board Chair Kay Thomas, and Labour MP Vanushi Walters. Their presence was a powerful reflection of the shared commitment to compassionate community service.

The campaign was not only about meeting physical needs but also about restoring hope, dignity, and humanity across every corner of society.

BAPS Charities New Zealand extends heartfelt gratitude to all partners, volunteers, and supporters who made this winter drive possible. Together, we continue our mission to serve Aotearoa with empathy, unity, and unconditional care—one pack, one meal, and one life at a time.
