Charity Golf Day Raises £10,000 for Underprivileged Schoolchildren – London, UK

BAPS Charities held its annual charity golf day at the picturesque Hartsbourne Country Club in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on 25 April 2019. The event was planned by ‘Helping Hand’, a group of golfing enthusiasts, and supported by volunteers from BAPS Charities.

The Hartsbourne Country Club was established in 1927, and is a highly sought-after golf and country club which has previously hosted the Gor-Ray Classic – a renowned PGA golf tournament.

Almost 70 players participated in the golf day to raise money for good causes. Participants competed on a challenging course and in variable weather conditions before joining as a group for the awards ceremony.

The event raised more than £10,000 for projects that serve tribal and underserved areas of south eastern Gujarat through the provision of educational services and hostels.

Vinod Bedi, one of the golfers and sponsors, said, “I have been playing and participating in this event for over 10 years. It is very rewarding to be part of an initiative that helps to better the facilities of tribal schools in India, which in turn transforms the lives of children and provides them with an opportunity to serve their communities.”

Raj Soneji, a BAPS Charities volunteer, added, “We would like to thank the participants and sponsors for their support which has raised valuable funds for underprivileged children in India. Over the years, we have witnessed the positive change that this fundraising initiative has fostered for so many children and their families. Giving a child an opportunity to achieve what was not previously possible, is a tangible and powerful output from this event.”
