Winter Clothes Drive – London, UK

BAPS Charities organised a winter clothing drive in London to support the homelessness charity Crisis, helping to provide essential warmth and comfort to those most in need during the colder months.

The initiative formed part of its ongoing commitment to serving the local community and supporting vulnerable individuals, particularly during winter when the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness are significantly heightened.

Volunteers from BAPS Charities engaged with members of Neasden Temple and the local community in London, who generously donated a wide range of winter essentials, including coats, jackets, jumpers, scarves, hats, and gloves. In total, more than 400 items of clothing were collected, helping to offer warmth, dignity, and protection to individuals facing harsh winter conditions.

Crisis is a national charity dedicated to ending homelessness by providing practical support, education, housing advice, and advocacy. During the winter months, its work becomes especially vital as people sleeping rough face increased health risks and life-threatening conditions.

Maria Teresa, Facilities Manager at Crisis, expressed her appreciation, saying, “Thank you very much for your generous donation. The clothes are of great value to our members and are truly appreciated. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who collaborated and helped make this possible.”

Kirit Wadia, a senior volunteer for BAPS Charities, added, “Winter can be an extremely difficult and dangerous time for those without a safe place to stay. Mahant Swami Maharaj continually inspires us to turn compassion into meaningful action, and this initiative provided a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support those in need.”
