Reset & Reignite: Championing Youth Mental Health Dialogue at USIU, Nairobi, Kenya – June 2025

On June 5, 2025, BAPS Charities hosted Reset & Reignite, a youth-centred mental health talk show at United States International University – Africa (USIU-Africa), Nairobi. As the first event of its kind by BAPS Charities in Kenya, it brought together students, professionals, and educators for an afternoon of meaningful conversation around mental health, resilience, and value-based living.

The event was attended by over 150 participants, including USIU-Africa students, BAPS Charities volunteers, and members of faculty—most notably the Chair of the School of Business and the University’s Head Counsellor.

Designed to empower youth through open and honest dialogue, Reset & Reignite featured three inspiring speakers who addressed key topics including managing emotional struggles, overcoming addictions, prioritizing mental well-being, and living a life rooted in purpose and integrity.

Following the talks, a panel discussion provided students an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers. One student asked, “How can we balance the pressure to succeed with the need to protect our mental health?”—a question that sparked thoughtful responses and practical takeaways from the panellists.

Mr. Patrick Obel, the Head Counsellor at USIU-Africa, shared, “When we have young people leading this kind of an initiative, it has got a bigger impact.”

The event concluded with a message of optimism and a call for community support. Reset & Reignite reflects BAPS Charities’ continued commitment to promoting mental wellness and fostering meaningful conversations among youth.
