In May 2015, the Eastern Coast of Tanzania saw record rainfall, and among the worst hit was the Kwahani area in the island of Zanzibar. Over 300 families lost their homes and land due to flash floods, and at least 12 people were confirmed dead.
In response to the tragic event, BAPS Charities donated beddings worth over Tsh 5.9 million /- to aid the affected families. The donation was made to the Minister of Defense and National Service, Dr. Hussein Mwyinyi, who assured that the assistance would go to the victims intact.
